Two wheeled mayhem in your very own home…
Of the two main categories of racing game available – arcade and simulator – Manx TT Superbike is firmly in the former. Originally given birth on a Sega arcade cabinet, Manx TT Superbike was later ported to the Saturn with what I like to think was a reasonable degree of success.
If your idea of fun is a loud and proud arcade racer, then Manx TT is absolutely perfect. Bright colourful graphics, up-beat soundtracks, a couple of decent courses to speed around and the awesome ‘Streetfighter 2’ style sampled voice letting you know you’ve hit a checkpoint all combine to give you an excellent racing experience.
There are a few niggling issues, like polygon warping on the road and a pretty dire view distance, but who has time to pay close attention to things like that when you’re in 3rd place with 10 seconds to go before the final checkpoint? Manx TT is easy, accessible and simplistic fun but it will leave you with a strong desire to rush out and actually purchase the original TT Superbike arcade machine.
